Arm lift is an intervention for the sagging in arm. Ageing, weight gain, weight loss, exposure to sunlight and gravity cause loosening of the subcutaneous tissues. When arms are lifted sideways, sagging similar to bat wing can be seen in the lower part of arm. Arm sagging can usually cause discomfort when one wears short-sleeved clothes. Excessive sagging can be corrected with surgical operations. It might take an average of 1 hour to 3 hours.
In some patients, both fat removal by liposuction and arm lift operation can be performed together.
Aspirin, painkillers and herbal medicines should be avoided. Smoking should be stopped prior to the operation.
Bands are adhered to the surgical area on the arm, recovery period is accelerated by dressing arm corset and oedema is reduced. Silicone tubes, called drain, are placed to prevent blood and fluid collection and they are removed in the early period.
The arm is more natural, firmer and has distinct contours. There is a scar in the form of a line, hidden in the inner part of the arm.
Scar healing and returning to work might take 10-15 days.
