Breast uplift surgery is usually performed when the augmented breast after pregnancy faces involution by volume loss after stopping lactation, shrinkage of breast tissue and deterioration of aesthetic appearance such as sagging. When the sagging occurs, nipple looks downward or sags, and asymmetry can be seen in some cases. This causes loss of self-confidence in the person experiencing breast sagging.

While breast uplift is sufficient when the sizes of the breast tissue are sufficient but only sagging is a complaint, breast uplift operations can be performed together with breast augmentation or breast reduction operations. It is performed under general anaesthesia. Mostly, reduction of the enlarged nipple is involved in this procedure.

Complications such as swelling and bleeding can be avoided with the sports bra which is used immediately after the breast uplift surgery. Processed regions are covered with special bands and the recovery period is accelerated. It is recommended to support the breast with bra for a period of 2 months after the operation. Silicone systems called drains can be placed in the surgical area to prevent fluid and blood collection under the skin. It is removed in the early period.

Breast is shaped again and nipple is positioned at upper level as it should be. Scars remain around the nipple, in the form of a straight line descending from this area and hidden under the breast fold (inverse T). These scars disappear over the time in the original colour of the skin.
